It’s almost most wonderful time of the year … summertime that is! Soon the last school bell will ring, and the kids will be out of school. That’s when all the fun starts for Columbia Association (CA) with our vast array of summer camps.

Each year, CA offers more than 20 different camps  in more than eight locations across Howard County. Wondering which camps we will be offering this year? Make sure to stop by the CA Camps Open House on  Saturday, June 1, from 11am- 2pm at Lake Elkhorn near the pavilion.

“We would like to reintroduce Lake Elkhorn to our campers and their families,” said CA Camps Assistant Manager Shelley Wilson. “We have not held camp there for three years, since the dredging. We are excited to be back here!”

The Camps Open House is a fun, free event for new campers, returning campers, their families and the entire community. Parents and children will have an opportunity to meet the CA camp directors and other camp staff, all while enjoying lots of free activities such as  face painting, games, snow cones, hot dogs, a moon bounce and so much more. Parents will also be able to register for camp, pay off their camp balance and enter to win free camp sessions.

CA offers camps to everyone. There are camps for children ages 3-16 years old, and all CA camps are accredited by the American Camp Association. Camps range from sports, nature, art, adventure trips, overnight adventures, sailing, hiking, canoeing, swimming and more.

Reduced rates for income qualified families, as well as military families, are offered. For more information, contact the CA Camps Department at 410-715-3165  or visit
