A new workout program for kids will direct their youthful energy toward healthier endeavors while also instilling good fitness habits that can serve them into adulthood.
Columbia Association (CA) is offering Kids in Action for children between the ages of 5 and 13. The program begins the week of Oct. 22 at the Columbia Gym, located at 6151 Daylong Lane in Clarksville. If successful, this session could ultimately lead to the program being offered at CA’s other two fitness facilities as well.
Kids in Action runs as a six-week session, with classes meeting once a week. Classes are separated by age group. Kids between the ages of 5 and 7 work out on Saturdays between 9 and 9:45 a.m. Children between the ages of 8 and 10 meet on Wednesdays between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. And youth between the ages of 11 and 13 meet on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.
The program includes emphasis on functional flexibility, core and balance, plyometrics, speed, agility, muscular fitness activities and cardio fitness via games and activities. Classes are led by certified fitness trainers.
The six-week session is $50 per child for Package Plan Plus, Package Plan and club members; $60 per child for CA residents with a Columbia Card; and $70 per child for non-members.
