Spa Days at Columbia Gym KidSpace

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Sarina Grewal, KidSpace manager at Columbia Gym, to talk to her about what KidSpace offers. I arrived just when she was talking on the phone with the owners of Still Point Spa, as they were finalizing arrangements for the very first Spa Day through KidSpace at Columbia Gym.

Still Point Spa is just down the street from the Columbia Gym, yet, they were coming into the Columbia Gym on Sept. 24 for the first-ever Spa Day. The reason why? It made a great pairing for parents. Mom or Dad could get a good workout and then come in for a spa treatment, all while their kids happily played in KidSpace. There would be no driving around and no negotiating with the kids. Sounds like a perfect pairing to me!

For members of CA with the KidSpace package, it is as if you were just taking a class. You sign your child in at no extra cost and then you go to your massage or facial treatment. The only cost is the spa treatment. For members without the KidSpace option, there is an $8 fee per visit, for up to two hours. Now where else will you find babysitting so cheap?

I came back to the Columbia Gym on the Spa Day. At that time two moms who had just worked out were coming in for a scalp massage. While the one mom was getting her massage, I talked with the other mom (she wished to remain anonymous) and one of the owners for Still Point Spa, Marla Peoples. This mom shared with me that she loved this idea of a spa day and asked her friend to join her.

She said: “You know how much of a heel I would feel like if I asked my friend, ‘Hey, can you take on another kid or two for an hour or two so that I can go pamper myself with a massage?’ I just couldn’t do it. This way we both got to get a massage.”

And that is awesome.

The first spa day was on Sept. 24, but if you missed it, don’t worry, there are two more coming up this fall. There will be a spa day on Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. You can make reservations with Sarina by calling 410-531-8973 or sending her an email at: sarina.grewal@columbiaassociation.org . Remaining fall dates are November 12 and December 17. Dates are set, but times are still being finalized. Each time the spa will offer a different assortment of packages for you to choose from.

And ladies and gentlemen, you might want to pick up one of the fliers for Spa Day at the Columbia Gym and stick it on the refrigerator, in front of the computer monitor or just shove it in your loved one’s face as a little hint to say that spa services would make a great present for any occasion. Your loved one wouldn’t even have to babysit! That’s a win-win situation right there!
