There is no one trick to being a good parent — but there are, however, the methods of 1-2-3 Magic™.
Columbia Association (CA) will be hosting a 1-2-3 Magic™ Parenting Workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Columbia Gym, located at 6151 Daylong Lane in Clarksville. 1-2-3 Magic™ is based on the bestselling book series and is a nationally recognized program for parents who want to reduce challenging behaviors while also improving positive behaviors in children between the ages of 2 and 12.
The workshop will be led by Lacey Tsonis, who is a training specialist in the Howard County Office of Children’s Services and is also a certified 1-2-3 Magic™ educator. Parents who attend will receive an overview of the 1-2-3 Magic Plan™; learn two techniques (the counting method and positive praise) that can help stop children’s negative behaviors, including whining, arguing, yelling and tantrums; and learn how to encourage positive behaviors regarding homework, cleaning up, bedtime and getting ready.
The workshop is $8 per person. Refreshments will be provided. The workshop is open to the public, but space is limited, so be sure to register soon. Childcare will be provided only for those who register in advance. Please call 410-381-7559 to register or for more information.
