CANCELED: Shot Doctor Teaches Weeklong Basketball Camp at Columbia Gym

CANCELED: Due to an unforeseen medical issue, the basketball camp with Buzz Braman scheduled for Aug. 20 through Aug. 24 has been canceled. However, the Supreme Sports Club will be hosting another basketball camp that week. The basketball courts at the Columbia Gym will be open for drop-in play.

The doctor is in — and “in” is where your basketball shots will be more often after a weeklong camp with Buzz Braman.

Braman, who is known as “Dr. Sure Shot” and the “Shot Doctor,” has worked with several NBA superstars, including Steve Francis, Penny Hardaway, Shaquille O’Neal, Isiah Thomas and Chris Webber, and as a shooting coach for the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Bullets (now the Wizards).

Now Braman will be teaching a one-week session at the Columbia Gym, located at 6151 Day Long Lane in Clarksville. The session will run from August 20 through August 24, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“I teach two things that I don’t think kids get enough of,” Braman says. “One is that kids can’t shoot at all, so I try to teach them how to do that. The second thing kids don’t have is an arsenal of offensive moves, so my camp focuses on teaching those two things that most coaches either don’t have the knowledge of or don’t have the time to teach, which is the art of shooting and then building an offensive game.”

The camp is open to boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 16 and costs $325 for Columbia Association residents and $365 for non-residents. Register at the Columbia Gym. For more information, call 410-531-0800.
