Have fun and get fit as Columbia Association (CA) celebrates National Dance Day. Members and residents are invited to CA’s second straight year of supporting a fun way — and a fun day — for promoting physical fitness.
CA’s National Dance Day event will be held on Saturday, July 28, from noon to 1 p.m. at Supreme Sports Club, 7080 Deepage Drive in Columbia. The event will raise awareness of dance as a healthy form of exercise while also supporting the Coalition for a Healthy Maryland.
National Dance Day was founded in 2010 by Nigel Lythgoe, the executive producer and judge on the popular television dance competition “So You Think You Can Dance.” CA first participated in the event in 2011.
This year, CA Zumba® instructors will lead participants through the latest Zumba® and National Dance Day routines. The event is open to adults and children. Participants 14 and older will enjoy Zumba® and National Dance Day routines, while children under age 14 will learn ZumbAtomic®, a fun, exciting way for children to move, have fun and learn to dance to Latin music.
Adult registration will begin July 28 at 11:15 a.m. at Supreme Sports Club’s skating entrance. The event is free for adult CA members and $10 for non-members. Children under age 14 must be pre-registered by calling 410-381-7559. ZumbAtomic® is free for Package Plan Plus members, $8 for Package Plan members and $10 for non-members. Cash and checks are acceptable. Please make checks payable to Coalition for a Healthy Maryland.
The paid admission supports the Coalition for a Healthy Maryland, which is a collaboration of Maryland businesses, health clubs, insurers, nonprofit associations and individuals determined to improve the health of our state. The Coalition’s mission is to promote prevention — the real answer to the obesity epidemic and spiraling health care costs. For more information, please visit cfahm.org.
