Registration for CA’s Biggest Winner Contest Begins January 2

Last year’s participants lost a total of more than 440 pounds

This winter, the Columbia Association (CA) will offer its Biggest Winner Contest—an eight-week weight loss and fitness challenge—at all three CA fitness facilities. Now in its third year, the contest allows participants to compete to achieve a personal goal, as well as contribute to their team’s success. In 2011, the Biggest Winner program won the Mid-Atlantic Club Management Association’s Award of Excellence in Overall Programming.

Biggest Winner participants will compete in teams of four and will receive two one-hour team personal training sessions per week, including weekly team healthy lifestyle “pep talks”; personalized workouts to be completed outside of team training sessions; weekly individual and team challenges; a two-month individual CA Package Plan Plus membership; kick-off and celebration events; T-shirts; health seminars; discounts from local vendors; and weekly weigh-ins. Prizes will be awarded to both the individual and the team with the best percentage of weight lost. Registration will be open January 2–13. A kick-off event will be held on Saturday, January 14, at noon at the Columbia Gym, located at 6151 Daylong Lane in Clarksville.

Biggest Winner participants can also choose to take part in the Bod Pod Challenge to receive a pre- and post-Bod Pod Metabolic and Body Composition test. Currently used to test participants on The Biggest Loser reality show, these tests will show body change in pounds of fat lost and pounds of lean mass (muscle) gained, providing a detailed and accurate body analysis. Prizes will be awarded to the contestant with the highest decrease in percentage of body fat. Participation in this challenge adds an additional cost to the contest registration fee. Cost is $99 for CA Members and $109 for non-members for the two Bod Pod Metabolic and Body Composition tests and 30-minutes of nutrition consultation.

The contest is open to CA members and the general public who are generally healthy and are of varying fitness levels. Interested persons must complete a health history questionnaire as part of the enrollment packet. Medical clearance may be necessary for participation. Interested participants may request a Biggest Winner application at one of CA’s three fitness facilities: Columbia Athletic Club, Columbia Gym or Supreme Sports Club. Registration is required and space, which is limited, will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost of the program, per person, is $349 for CA Package Plan or Individual Facility members; $479 for CA Resident Card-holders; and $499 for the general public. CA Package Plan Plus members receive a discounted rate of $329. As of the program’s start date, the registration fee will be non-refundable. Participants will be assigned to a team based on when they can attend the twice-weekly group personal training sessions.
