Festivities will be held Monday, July 4 at Downtown Columbia Lakefront
Columbia Association (CA) staff will partner with the Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks and other County agencies to bring County residents the annual 4th of July Festival and fireworks display on Monday, July 4 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront.
The festival will begin at 5 p.m. with children’s entertainment featuring Blue Sky Puppet Theater, The Kinderman and comedy juggler Michael Rosman. Kids may also participate in carnival games and crafts, all with a “Stars & Stripes” theme. Additional vendors will include Shenna Body Art and Wilde and Crazy Hair. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the main stage will host a performance by Cruise, a “classy rock” group. To commemorate Independence Day, a spectacular fireworks display, produced by Garden State Fireworks, will begin at 9:30 p.m.
Parking is free. Attendees may bring food or purchase food from one of the vendors on site. Since fireworks cause anxiety, stress and fear for most dogs, please leave “man’s best friend” safely at home. For postponement information due to rain, please call 410-313-4451 on the day of the event. Rain date–for the fireworks only–is Tuesday, July 5 at 9:30 p.m.
To view the entire schedule for July 4th festivities, please go to the Howard County Government web site at HowardCountyMD.gov, or call Ella Carter at the Recreation & Parks Department at 410-313-1671.
