Recycle your old electronics, denim and sneakers at Save the Planet Day
The Columbia Association (CA) Teen Advisory Committee is coordinating Save the Planet Day on Saturday, May 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., immediately following the Columbia Archives’ BikeAbout event at the Town Center Lakefront. The event will feature green-minded vendors, entertainment, food and children’s activities. Residents are encouraged to bring old cell phones, digital cameras, iPods, MP3 players, denim and sneakers to recycle. There will be no shredding truck as previously advertised.
Bicycling and walking for recreation and as alternative transportation are two key factors of environmental sustainability. That is why Save the Planet Day will be held following the 11th annual BikeAbout and Town Center Walking Tour, an event that shows the viability of bike transportation on Columbia’s extensive pathways, while uncovering the area’s historic and natural beauty. Participants in the BikeAbout may begin the ride anytime between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. The Town Center walking tour will begin at 10:30 a.m. For more information, please visit ColumbiaArchives.org.
